Choosing your engagement session outfit doesn’t have to be hard. It all depends on what you want your photos to look like. Do you want images that are soft and romantic? Or do you want images that are bright and bold? This post will help you with outfit inspiration for light and airy engagement photos. Before you read on, go ahead and make sure you bookmark this page for later!
First, let’s start with some outfit MYTHS.
This is false! It’s true that there are some colours that don’t work for some people, but actually, neutrals are the most photogenic colour for portraits!
Again, this is false. Sure, black is slimming, however, it can make your photos look very heavy. If you’re hoping for bright, airy, colourful photos (like you see in my portfolio), black may not be your best choice.
In reality, your outfit has way more impact than the location of your photos. You two are the main focus of your photos, not the location (which is just a background at the end of the day).
PLEASE do not try and match your partner. Instead, try and coordinate! Coordination means that you choose colours that compliment each other and look good together but are not close to being the same.
Next, when it comes to choosing your outfit, there are some things you should avoid:
Now, let’s get into which style you prefer. Do you want your outfit to be bold or neutral? Dressy or casual? Classic or trendy? There are no wrong answers! I’ve had many couples choose to have TWO outfits for their engagement session. They usually opt for a dressy outfit and a casual one.
